Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program Administration

The Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program provides postsecondary financial assistance to eligible Minnesota resident students who are of one-fourth or more American Indian ancestry or be an enrolled member or citizen of a federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation.

Program Overview

Scholarships are available to eligible Minnesota resident students attending eligible accredited institutions in Minnesota who are enrolled members or citizens of a federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation or who are of ¼ or more American Indian ancestry.
The annual award amount is up to $4,000 per academic year for undergraduate students and up to $6,000 per academic year for graduate students. Eligible students may receive awards in up to 3 semesters, 4 quarters, or the equivalent during an award year.
Students are eligible to receive awards up to a lifetime maximum of ten (10) annual awards or the equivalent with additional award limits based on the program level.

Students enrolled in less than 4-year degree programs (Certificate, Diploma, or Associate's Degree) are limited to 3 annual awards or the equivalent (6 semesters, 9 quarters, etc.)
Student enrolled in 4-year degree programs (Bachelor's Degree) are limited to 5 annual awards or the equivalent (10 semesters, 15 quarters, etc.) including any awards received while enrolled in a less than 4-year degree program
Students enrolled in graduate or professional degree programs (Master's Degree, Doctorate Degree) are limited to 5 annual awards or the equivalent (10 semesters, 15 quarters, etc.)

Students may receive the scholarship for only one degree per educational level and one terminal graduate degree.
